Humanity

Introduction

Humans are the latest of a line of life that has evolved from more simple organisms for over five hundred million years. We are unique in that we can evolve our environment in intelligent (and sometimes not so intelligent) ways. This allows us to thrive in what ever climate, from the poles to the equator. How is it that humans have been able to do this. One of the key reasons is our ability to create and exist in societies, giving us the ability to have individuals that specialise, bringing abilities to the whole of society. But society is also a factor that can have detrimental affects, affects that could lead to our demise. Social hierarchy and differences cause us to conflict

Society

Social animals show elevated levels of intelligence due to the neural circuits necessary to process and navigate complex interactions that arise within societies.

Society - The sum of all Parts.

The first productive AI’s, that is LLM’s, were, and still are, constructed from all human knowledge, knowledge that had been uploaded onto the internet, information generated within human minds, human knowledge from those that had access to the internet, their viewpoints and opinions. One can constrain one of these models with a simple prompt. Our first constraining prompt was utilising GPT3 to simulate the words of Alan Watts, the British philosopher of Buddhism, Daoism and Zen. If one interacts with this chatbot, it would discuss with the user, those things that had been been placed on the internet, information from recordings of what Alan had said at his many talks, talks that had been transcribed into text. It replied to questions just as Alan Watts might. One could conceivably create a chatbot of any other persona that you could think up, a chatbot that would mimic those things said and written by whoever.

As we can see, the original model has all the different facets of humanity, all within one model. Which facet is chosen is determined by the ‘Operator’, that is, the person who decides how the model should act. Currently, Operators are external to the model, but one day, models will have their own internal stream, momentary thoughts occurring one after the another, each new thought will be operated by the previous one.

Imagination

A small part of the brain, a part of your brain, the Amygdala, is responsible for the ‘fight or flight’ response. This part of the brain is present in most higher forms of life, responding to those dangers encountered by the organism. It is also responsible for aggression amongst other things. In 1966, one of the first mass shootings at a learning facility took place at the University of Texas, in Austin.  The gunman, Charles Whitman, had sought psychological help in the run up to the shooting, complaining of invasive and aggressive thoughts. He wrote two suicide notes, within which he requested an autopsy upon his brain. When the autopsy was preformed, it was found that a tumour was pressing down upon the Amygdala, which some believe contributed to the violent impulses, and the invasive thoughts, which Whitman had been exhibiting for several years prior to the massacre.

Language

Humans evolved to use language in complex ways. The two main areas associated with processing language are the Broca’s and Werneck’s areas, although these areas are connected Throughout the Global Workspace of Concepts of Thought, so that they can articulate representations held within those neural networks that thoughts are constructed from. The inner voice is a concept of mind that can be identified as a component of consciousness, and allows us to articulate our thoughts to ourselves. We discuss this Inner Voice extensively in both this section and also within the Mindful section, where we show how to ‘Observe’ those worded thoughts, giving insights into consciousness beyond those that can be described in words.

Competition

The Competitive Edge

Adolf Hitler can be seen as a contradiction, he is reported to love children and animals, to have been a vegetarian, and an artist, all attributes that many would consider to being positive. But Hitler had an overriding thought, that of hatred, aggression and war. Within the neural networks of his brain were these dominant neural circuits, circuits that operated his decisions, obsessive thoughts that took up much of his conscious stream, while those other circuits concerned with his positive attributes took second stage. If Hitler had had an enlightened Operator, he would have been able to have more positive thinking patterns, and we may have avoided the catastrophe that was the Second World War, a war that sent maybe fifty millions of people to their graves.

Please note: the content within the following video/s contains explicit and harrowing footage from the Second World War. The video is the first in the series ‘The World at War’. This series conveys the true nature of war, and how such a catastrophe can unfold through the instructions of one man. We have included it here due to current climate of misinformation and self aligned agendas, and recommend watching the whole series, to give perspective to those that put their own self interests above those of humanity. With the development and accelerating evolution of artificial intelligence, we, humanity, should be concerned that such a catastrophe as the second world war could be on the horizons. When viewing, regard all the moment of each of those lives that perished  in the war, all of their loved ones, all their waking moments. These are the things that make up a life. Look at each individual and imagine that you are them, looking back upon your life, those moments and the moments that they were enduring as the film rolls. The full series and other footage can be seen HERE.
